TUnIS Navigation is a mobile app for tunnel boring machine (TBM) operators and surveyors who need precision guidance and real-time positioning data outside the control cabin. Built by VMT—a leader in tunneling navigation systems since 1994—this app extends the capabilities of the desktop navigation software, giving you flexibility to monitor and direct TBM operations from anywhere on the jobsite.

The app displays TBM position with millimeter accuracy, allowing you to start and stop navigation, check orientation, and verify direction without returning to the control cabin. You maintain full control: when the mobile app is active, the desktop software is temporarily blocked, but operators at the PC can always see what you're doing and retain the ability to close the connection at any time. This two-way awareness ensures safety and coordination across the team.

Navigate and measure with confidence using a full suite of surveying tools. Relocate your total station to a new bracket, use the joystick feature for precise aiming at prisms, perform new prism measurements, and conduct segment reference prism measurements (version 3.5 or higher). For moving station systems, the app supports free stationing, new backsight prism setup, and position determination. You can also configure RCMS sections directly from your device.

TUnIS Navigation runs on both smartphones and tablets, so you choose the form factor that works best for your site conditions. The app is compatible with TUnIS version 3.19 or higher, ensuring you stay synchronized with your desktop installation.
